Gauntlet was a cancelled video game planned for release on the Nintendo DS system in 2008 but never saw the light of the day. Part of the Gauntlet series, the title simply bore the name in a single word like the original Gauntlet on the Nintendo Entertainment System released back in 1988, and was meant to be a retro reincarnation of its dungeon-crawling namesake.

The game was announced in April 2008 and was well into its development, nearing completion and receiving pre-release reviews from gaming magazines [1] and ratings from ESRB, along with a demo being launched on the DS Download Station in the summer. [2] Regardless, the game's development was quietly scrapped and by early 2009, it was considered to be done for as a cancelled project. [3]

Gameplay[]

Just like in Super 3D Noah's Ark, players take place in a maze to fight evil. The other characters look different.

The announcer is different than the speech chip. The new announcer would have warn you by saying "Remember, don't shoot food.", "Elf - shot the food!", "Shots can't hit other players.". If your health reads 200, the announcer will say "Valkyrie - needs food badly!", and while still in 200, the announcer will say "Wizard - needs food!", "Elf - is about to die!", "Warrior, all your powers will be lost.".

Enemies[]

  • Ghost - They act as common enemies in the game.
  • Grunts - Same as ghosts, but tougher.
  • Sorcerer- Some may be invisible and you must wait patiently.
  • Death - This doesn't take your health away, but it's a difficult enemy.

Characters[]

  • The Warrior has superior abilities with strength.
  • The Wizard has superior abilities in magic.
  • The Elf has superior abilities in speed and reflexes.
  • The Valkyrie has superior abilities in armor and protection.
