A Gamma Metroid is the fifth stage of a Metroid's life cycle, following the Alpha Metroid stage. It looks almost like the Alpha Metroid, only bigger, stronger, and more durable. In addition, the Gamma Metroid gains the ability to attack with lightning bolts.

Appearances[]

Metroid II: Return of Samus/Metroid: Samus Returns[]

Up to sixteen Gamma Metroids are encountered on SR388 in Metroid II: Return of Samus, while in Metroid: Samus Returns, there are fourteen, and they also have the ability to escape using special Metroid webs, retreating to another room in the latter game; Samus can't follow them, so she must get to wherever they flee to by using other means. They can also descend to the ground, walking on all four legs, attacking by lunging at Samus, and emitting powerful blasts from their bodies.

Metroid Fusion[]

The Gamma Metroid and the other types of Metroids (excluding the Omega and Queen Metroids) make a cameo appearance in the Restricted Laboratory.
