Flare Blitz (フレアドライブ Flare Drive?) is a damage-dealing Fire-type move introduced in the fourth generation. The Pokémon crashes into its opponent while on fire, dealing tremendous damage but causing recoil damage.

Effect[]

Flare Blitz inflicts damage but causes the user to receive recoil damage up to 1/3 of the damage dealt to the target.

In Super Smash Bros. series[]

Flare Blitz is Charizard's side special in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, replacing Rock Smash (became a down special for the former). It does a lot of damage and knockback but gives Charizard damage as well.
