Episode 1
Cold Arrow, Curious Heart
Euden: ...Hmm? I swear we saw fiends out here just a second ago.
Euden: What...happened?
Euden: There are fiend corpses all over the place, and they've all been killed by arrows.
Ranzal: Whoever shot 'em knew EXACTLY where to aim, too. One arrow, one kill.
Ranzal: We're dealin' with a real combat vet here.
Euden: So someone killed these fiends in the time it took us to mobilize and get out here?
Euden: ...Hmm? Who's there?!
Eleonora: The next one of you to flinch gets an arrow through the heart.
Euden: Easy, now. Who are you?
Eleonora: You're the ones who should be making introductions, not me.
Eleonora: Are you Imperial soldiers? Do those fiends serve your will? If so, you will not leave this place alive.
Euden: We're not with the Empire.
Euden: We came here to defeat these fiends ourselves.
Euden: We saw them moving to attack the village from inside our castle and came here to stop that from happening.
Eleonora: The only castle around here belongs to the traitor prince, Euden.
Euden: Er, yeah. That's me, actually.
Euden: Now can we please just talk about thi—
Eleonora: There is no need to explain yourself; if you are the royal turncoat, then you are not my enemy.
Eleonora: For when fiends attacked my village, it was not you who led them.
Euden: Your village? What happened? Is everyone—
Eleonora: You need know nothing more than my hatred for the Empire.
Eleonora: Yet I hear you fight them as well?
Euden: That's right.
Eleonora: I see.
Eleonora: Then permit me to join your ranks, Prince Euden.
Euden: We'd be lucky to have an archer as skilled as you on our side.
Euden: But I'd like to know what led you to hate the Empire. Would you be willing to tell me more back at the castle?
Eleonora: A castle full of humans...
Eleonora: Very well. Let us hasten there.
Eleonora: Oh wow. You all LIVE here?!
Euden: Huh? Well, yeah, but—
Eleonora: Eeeee! What's that on the ceiling?! Is it a decoration or whatever?!
Eleonora: Gya! So bright! ...Oooooh, I get it! It must be some kind of light.
Euden: Yeah, it's a...light. Can we finish our discussion from earlier now?
Eleonora: What ARE these walls made from? It's too smooth to be stone... Oh!
Eleonora: My apologies. I promised to tell you more when we arrived at the castle, did I not?
Euden: That was the plan, but it can wait until after you've looked around, if you want.
Eleonora: Oh, goody! Then show me where you sleep! No, wait! Where you eat!
Eleonora: I've always wondered how you humans eat your meals. Are you standing up, or sitting down, or lying on the floor, or...
Ranzal: The hell's up with this crazy lady here? It's like she's a totally different person.
Euden: I have no idea. Still, it's nice she's taken such a shine to the castle, I guess?
Episode 2
An Obligation to Fulfill
Eleonora: Oh, wow... So you've fought in all kinds of different places, huh?
Eleonora: Like where?! Tell me, tell me!
Ranzal: Well, I guess I've sorta been all over the place...
Euden: You look like you're having fun, Eleonora. What are you two talking about?
Ranzal: Hey, Euden! Perfect!
Ranzal: You wanna talk to this guy, Eleonora. He's got way better stories than me.
Ranzal: Ain't many people who can tell ya about the life of royalty, after all!
Eleonora: Royalty, you say?
Eleonora: Ooo, I AM curious about how human royalty lives!
Ranzal: Yer up, Euden!
Ranzal: Pssst! I was thinkin' I might not get away from this lady till nightfall—thanks for the assist, buddy!
Eleonora: So then! What kind of life DID you live as a royal human?
Eleonora: I can hardly imagine how fanciful your meals must have been!
Euden: Oh, I don't know if they were THAT fancy.
Euden: Er, what kinds of questions have you been going around asking everyone, anyway?
Eleonora: Oh, just about who they are and what they like and how they think and when they eat and anything else they can tell me about human society in general.
Eleonora: I've heard all KINDS of interesting things!
Euden: So you're interested in human society, eh?
Eleonora: Abso-LUTELY.
Eleonora: I finally have the chance to live with humans, and I need to make the most of it!
Eleonora: ...Ah, but I digress. Now is not the time for such folly.
Euden: Hmm? Why not?
Euden: There's nothing wrong with having an interest in something, after all.
Eleonora: Perhaps under ordinary circumstances— but I have a mission to complete.
Eleonora: Turning my back on that in favor of indulging my curiosity on trivial matters is no way to behave.
Euden: Why do you feel like you have to be so hard on yourself?
Eleonora: Because when I become interested in something, I prioritize it above all else.
Eleonora: It is a loathsome habit I have carried with me for as long as I can remember.
Eleonora: I grew up in a village of sylvans, the daughter of a chief.
Eleonora: I was raised to understand that I would eventually claim that title for myself.
Eleonora: But I was always more interested in the lives of humans than the cramped, restrictive lifestyle of the village.
Eleonora: In fact, I often used to get into trouble for sneaking out of the village.
Eleonora: After becoming chief, I did my best to suppress that curiosity and act the part, but it never truly went away.
Euden: And this is the village you said was attacked by fiends?
Eleonora: The same village I was sworn to lead—and to protect.
Eleonora: But the day the kingdom became an empire, the village was overrun by fiends and fell in a single night.
Eleonora: ...I am to blame for this.
Euden: That doesn't sound like it's your fault.
Euden: If anyone is to blame, it's the Empire for sending the fiends in the first place.
Eleonora: Do not think to show me pity. It is my responsibility, and mine alone.
Eleonora: And it is also my responsibility to avenge my people and see justice done.
Eleonora: These arrows are from my village—arrows filled with the resentment of my people.
Eleonora: And until each one has struck true into an Imperial soldier or fiend—until my vengeance is meted out—I cannot let myself become distracted by silly things.
Episode 3
Arrow of Vengeance
Eleonora: Oooo! I've never SEEN a town so big! The human settlements I saw as a child all pale in comparison.
Eleonora: Oh! Oh! What's that giant building there?!
Eleonora: It doesn't look like something you'd want to live in. Does it have some kind of religious significance?
Eleonora: Oh my gosh, look at the clothes! They're so DIFFERENT! Why is that, huh?
Euden: Heh. I'm glad to see you're having fun.
Eleonora: Oh, I am!
Eleonora: Everything here is new and exciting and... Wait, what am I doing?
Eleonora: I swore I wouldn't let curiosity get the better of me until after I had exacted revenge against the Empire.
Euden: You can't be chasing revenge every waking moment. You need some downtime.
Euden: The Empire will still be there when you're finished exploring the town.
Eleonora: But there are multiple ways I could spend my time more productively. Practicing my archery, for example.
Resident: Eeeek! There's a horde'a fiends headin' toward town!
Eleonora: Fiends?!
Euden: These people are all in danger. We have to hold them off until—
Eleonora: I'll slaughter every last one of them!
Euden: Huh? Eleonora, wait!
Euden: We'd be better off staying here and fortifying the entrance than running out and attacking the fiends directly.
Eleonora: But then some might escape!
Euden: That doesn't matter! Our first priority has to be protecting the town.
Eleonora: Stay here and cower, then! I will keep this town safe by slaughtering those fiends!
Ranzal: Geez, and she looked so happy and excited before...
Euden: We can't just let her go out on her own.
Euden: I'm going to back her up. The rest of you stay here and defend the town!
Eleonora: You will die! Every last one of you!
Eleonora: Feel the suffering of my people as you draw your last breath!
Euden: Eleonora!
Euden: Whoa. They're all trying to run. I think...they're scared of her.
Eleonora: *pant* *pant* You're late, Euden.
Eleonora: If you came to help with the fiends, I just finished off the last of them.
Euden: I'm glad you're all right, Eleonora. Still, you shouldn't push yourself like that.
Eleonora: Are you referring to the fact that I went out to fight alone?
Eleonora: That was not "pushing myself." I'm more than strong enough to dispose of fiends like these unaided.
Euden: I understand that. But I was also referring to the way you're forcing yourself to obsess over revenge like this.
Eleonora: I force myself to do nothing!
Euden: You were so happy when we were in town, and so...sad when you were fighting.
Euden: I think the happy one is the real you.
Eleonora: You can choose to believe what you like, but it doesn't make it true. The REAL me is the one who fights to avenge her people.
Eleonora: Now, if you are quite finished, I'm going back to town.
Euden: Are you really okay going on like this, Eleonora? CAN you be okay...?
Episode 4
Pride of the Bow
Euden: This is...a wasteland. What was it that you wanted to show me here, Eleonora?
Eleonora: This is where I used to live. It is what's left of my village.
Eleonora: ...Though you'd be hard-pressed to guess that looking at it now.
Euden: By the goddess...
Eleonora: A few of my people managed to survive the onslaught of the fiends.
Eleonora: But as you can see, no one could live here anymore, even if they wanted to.
Eleonora: So now they have scattered to different sylvan settlements around the continent.
Eleonora: What you see is exactly how it looked when the last of my people fled in terror on that day.
Euden: I'm so sorry...
Euden: But what was it that made you want to bring me here?
Eleonora: I thought it the fastest way to help you understand why I want revenge.
Euden: ......
Eleonora: After I was made this village's chief, I thought the title a burden.
Eleonora: "If I wasn't chief," I thought, "I'd be able to spend so much more time engaging with human culture."
Eleonora: All it did was keep me from living the life I truly wanted.
Eleonora: But now...I think differently.
Eleonora: Now, I think of being this village's chief as an honor—a source of great pride.
Euden: Why the change?
Eleonora: It was the people around me. When I first became chief, I was just an inexperienced young girl—yet they accepted me and did all they could to support me.
Eleonora: It was only because of them that I was able to fulfill my duties at all.
Eleonora: The title of chief isn't my personal property anymore.
Eleonora: It is our pride. It binds us all together as a symbol of our collective strength.
Eleonora: That is why I have a duty to exact revenge on those who tore our village apart—and by the pride that my people lent to me, I will do exactly that.
Euden: ......
Eleonora: You once told me not to push myself too hard, and I appreciate the concern.
Eleonora: But as chief, I have no choice BUT to avenge my people—no matter how hard I have to push myself to do it.
Eleonora: My tribe had great pride in their bows, and it is only fitting that I use mine to right the wrong they have suffered.
Euden: ...I understand you better now.
Euden: But do you really think the villagers who lost their lives here want revenge?
Eleonora: What are you saying?
Euden: I don't want you to sacrifice your own happiness or well-being for retribution, no matter how deeply felt.
Euden: Because you're a companion—a friend.
Euden: If the people of your village valued you half as much as I do, I'm guessing they'd feel the same way.
Eleonora: And how can you presume to know the feelings of my people?
Euden: I don't—I can only guess.
Euden: That's why I can't tell you to stop.
Euden: I can say this, though:
Euden: After you've fired your final arrow, you have to keep living.
Euden: If you can't quit seeking revenge, you should at least give some thought to what you'll do at that point.
Euden: Just think about what kind of a life you want to lead once your mission is done.
Euden: And think about what kind of a life the people of your village would have wanted you to live.
Eleonora: ...Very well. I will consider it.
Episode 5
Once All Arrows Are Loosed
Eleonora: Cleo! Cleoooo! Were you the one who made that food we had earlier?!
Cleo: That's right. Did you not like it?
Eleonora: No, I didn't like it—I LOVED IT!
Eleonora: The seasoning was like nothing I've ever tasted! Was that another human dish?!
Cleo: Yes. It's a favorite of Elisanne's—I learned how to make it after coming here.
Eleonora: Really?!
Eleonora: It was soooo good! I just assumed you'd been making it for a really long time.
Cleo: I'm happy to hear that, considering how much time I spent working out the recipe.
Eleonora: That's amazing!
Eleonora: I'm always stunned by how well you all get on here. You're a sylvan, but most of the others are humans, so there must be SOME cultural differences, right?
Eleonora: That's easy to forget when I see how well you all interact.
Eleonora: It's like one big family.
Cleo: You're part of that family too, Eleonora.
Cleo: You seem to be fitting in just fine yourself, even though it's full of humans.
Eleonora: Well, that's just because this castle is especially comfy.
Eleonora: Wait a second. Then...
Euden: See? You really are happiest when you're interacting with human culture.
Eleonora: Oh, Euden! You couldn't have timed your appearance better. I have something to talk to you about.
Eleonora: I've been thinking about what you said— about what I should do once my revenge is finally complete.
Eleonora: No matter how many days I spent thinking about it, I got no closer to an answer. But after speaking with Cleo, I think I have one at last.
Euden: I'd love to hear it.
Eleonora: Once my revenge has been exacted, I want to rebuild my village and take on the role of chief once more.
Eleonora: ...Except that I want it to be a place where sylvans and humans can live in peace and harmony together.
Euden: Interesting. But why did you think of that while talking to Cleo?
Eleonora: She reminded me how sylvans and humans all live together here.
Eleonora: And I don't see why I can't make a village where that happens as well.
Eleonora: If I do, I won't need to deny my curiosity— if anything, it will HELP the village.
Euden: I think that's a perfect idea.
Eleonora: Then I have a favor to ask of you...
Eleonora: Will you help me?
Eleonora: I want my village to be a place just like this castle.
Eleonora: Everyone here lives happily with each other, no matter their background.
Eleonora: But if my village is to do that, I am going to need your help.
Euden: I'll do whatever I can.
Eleonora: You will? Thank you.
Euden: I hope you can start rebuilding soon.
Eleonora: As do I—and the fastest way for it to come about is for me to fight by your side.
Eleonora: I hope that's all right with you, Euden.
Euden: I wouldn't have it any other way.
