Electric Terrain (エレキフィールド Elec Field ) is a non-damaging Electric-type move introduced in Pokémon X and Y. It creates the Electric Terrain field condition, which increases the power Electric-type moves and prevents Pokémon from falling asleep. It is TM90 in Pokémon Sword and Shield and TM136 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Effect[]
Electric Terrain will envelope the field in electricity for 5 turns, replacing any existing terrain condition. In the early titles, the background environment is replaced with electricity but current games just have electricity flowing across the ground. Any Pokémon not on the ground and in a semi-invulnerable part of a move will be unaffected by the terrain.
Terrain will boosts the power of Electric moves by affected users by 30% (50% in Generation VI and VII). This includes Pokémon under the effect of type-changing moves like Electrify. Pokémon affected by the terrain cannot be afflicted by sleep or the effects of Yawn, including the use of Rest. If the terrain activates while an affected Pokémon is drowsy, the Pokémon will prevent from falling asleep and the drowsy effect ends
If powered up by an Electrium Z into Z-Electric Terrain, the user's Speed stat is raised by one stage.
Electric Terrain, like other terrains, will be removed by Defog, Steel Roller, Ice Spinner, the Z-Move Splintered Stormshards and G-Max Wind Rage
Affected Abilities and Moves[]
The following abilities and moves are affected by Electric Terrain beyond its standard effects. Most of these will end once the terrain is removed or if the target becomes no longer grounded.
- Pokémon with Surge Surfer will double speed
- Pokémon with Mimicry will change their type to Electric
- Pokémon with Quark Drive raise their respective highest stat, even if the Pokémon is not grounded for the duration of the Terrain
- Pokémon with Electric Surge or Hadron Engine will automatically set up an Electric Terrain. Hadron Engine will additionally increase Special Attack.
- The Max Move Max Lightning will create an Electric Terrain for 5 turns
- The move Rising Voltage doubles power if the target is affected by the Electric Terrain
- The move Camouflage will change the type of the user to Electric
- The moves Nature Power, Secret Power and Terrain Pulse will turn into Electric type moves.
- Pokémon holding an Electric Seed will consume the seed and increase their Defense by one stage
- Pokémon holding Terrain Extender will extend a Terrain from the standard 5 turns to 8 turns akin to a Heat Rock for Harsh sunlight.

Trivia[]
- It is one of the 4 Terrain field conditions alongside Grassy Terrain, Misty Terrain and Psychic Terrain. Only one terrain condition can be active at any time and they all require Pokémon to be grounded to affect them.
