The Divine Beast Vah Medoh is a Divine Beast and dungeon featured in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Like every other Divine Beasts, Medoh was created by the ancient Sheikah to weaken Calamity Ganon. It was piloted by the hero of the Rito, Revali, until his death at the hands of the Windblight Ganon.
History[]
End of the Timelines[]
10,000 years before Breath of the Wild[]
The Divine Beast Vah Medoh was created over 10,000 years before the events of Breath of the Wild by the Sheikah, along with the other Divine Beasts and the Guardians, to combat Calamity Ganon. At the time, four Champions were chosen to pilot the Divine Beasts, who directly attacked Ganon to hold the princess of Hyrule and the chosen hero wielding the Master Sword. They succeeded and Ganon was sealed away for more than 10,000 years.
Rediscovering the Divine Beasts[]
110 years before the events of Breath of the Wild, the Royal Family of Hyrule was warned by a fortune teller of the return of Ganon. In preparation of his return, the Divine Beasts were rediscovered after being excavated and like in the old legend, four Champions were chosen to pilot them. The Rito Champion, Revali, was chosen to pilot the Divine Beast Vah Medoh.
100 years before Breath of the Wild[]
However, despite the efforts of the Royal Family, Calamity Ganon surprised them by corrupting and taking control of the ancient Sheikah technology. Windblight Ganon, a being created by Calamity Ganon was sent to kill Revali and take control of the Divine Beast. Princess Zelda used her power to contain Ganon in Hyrule Castle and his influence on the Divine Beasts was loosened.
During Breath of the Wild[]
A century later, Calamity Ganon's power grew strong enough to remotely control the Divine Beasts once more, even if he was still imprisoned in the castle. Vah Medoh started to fly over Rito Village, threatening the Rito, who feared of being shot down by its cannons if they fly too high. After his awakening, Link eventually headed to Rito Village and with the help of Teba reached the Divine Beast and defeated Windblight Ganon who was still in control of the Divine Beast. After the defeat of the creature, the spirit of Revali took control over the Divine Beast and placed it in firing position with Ganon as target. When Link confronts Calamity Ganon, Revali will open fire with Vah Medoh to cripple the monster.
Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity[]
Divine Beast Vah Medoh plays a major role in the game and Revali is chosen to control it in order to strike back at Calamity Ganon and makes use of its laser cannons, generating a barrier, and switching between top and bottom views to take on enemies from any height. Revali uses it to obliterate the worst of the monsters surrounding Korok Forest for Link and his friends to safely proceed. When the Great Calamity commences, Ganon unleashes shards of itself to take down the Champions and hijack their Divine Beasts; however due to Terrako's summoning of time portals to summon the future warriors with assistance from Link and his friends, Windblight Ganon's attempted murder was thwarted, Revali survives, and Vah Medoh was never taken by Ganon. Revali cooperates with Teba and use Medoh to defend western Hyrule, help Urbosa, and firing a powerful laser to weaken Ganon with the rest of the Champions.
