Deku Sticks are items within The Legend of Zelda series, appearing in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. They are fallen branches of the Great Deku Tree that can be used as weapons or to light torches, among other tasks.
Usage[]
Deku Sticks are dropped by Deku Babas if they are killed while they are sticking straight up, but they can also be obtained from shops for 10 rupees and Business Scrubs for 15. Usually, there are used as makeshift torches to burn stuff, but they can also be used as a melee weapon. They unfortunately break after a hit like the Giant's Knife, but it does have longer reach. Putting away a Deku Stick before it completely burn up will put it out, saving it for another use. If Link can manage to have a butterfly land on the tip of a Deku Stick, it will transform into either a Fairy or Bomb. However, this is very impractical and difficult to achieve.
Players can initially only carry 10 of them, but this can be upgraded twice to have a maximum capacity of 30. If Link enters the Forest Stage while wearing the Skull Mask, the Deku Scrubs reward him with a refill of Deku Sticks and raise the capacity to 20, while a Business Scrub by the bridge between Hyrule Field and Kokiri Forest will offer the second upgrade for 40 rupees.
