The Death Mountain Crater is a location in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It is accessible via a tunnel at the summit of Death Mountain, or a secret passageway behind the statue inside Darunia's room in Goron City.
Description[]
Link can explore the Death Mountain Crater anytime after clearing the Dodongo's Cavern. However, the area is an oven; Link can only take the heat for a certain amount of time (eight seconds times however many Heart Containers he currently has), requiring use of the Goron Tunic. On the north side of the crater is the Fire Temple entrance, blocked by red rocks if Link tries to access it as a kid.
Unfortunately, the only ways to get over there are through Darunia's secret entrance, or by playing the "Bolero of Fire", which wisks Link to the Triforce symbol in the central section of the crater. Just to the right of the Goron City entrance to the crater is a Great Fairy's Fountain where Link can get a Magic Power increase.
