Dawn (JP) is the female choice for the player character in Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Her male counterpart is Lucas.

Dawn appears as a travelling companion to Ash Ketchum and Brock in the Sinnoh region in Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl. She is a strong female lead and is often seen with her First partner Pokémon, Piplup.
In the anime, her dream is to become Top Coordinator in Pokémon Contests like her mother Johanna.
In the anime, Dawn owns her starter Pokémon Piplup, a Buneary, a Pachirisu, a Cyndaquil, a Mamoswine, and a Togekiss.
Dawn reappeared in Pokémon the Series: Black and White and Pokémon Journeys: The Series as a guest character.
