Dark Satellmites, called Dark Satellites in many different languages, are enemies that appear during the first fight versus the Dark Star. They do not appear until the boss gets his first turn, at which point they pop from his face. Their name is a pun on "Satellite".

Physical Appearance[]

Dark Satellmites look similar to the Dark Star himself, but their eyes are beadier and their bodies are fitted with four legs which enable them to walk around, though they typically get around by hopping.

Abilities[]

Dark Satellmites attack by firing a laser from their "mouth" (which is usually invisible). This can be dodged by jumping (Press the appropriate button.), ducking if the Dark Satellmites themselves jump before their laser fires (no input required). Dark Satellmites cannot be permanently be destroyed; dropping them to 0 hit points causes them to flash red. When this happens, the creatures will become dazed and cannot do anything. Later in the fight, the Dark Satellmites will be able to heal the Dark Star.

The Dark Satellmites have a self-sacrificing attack where they grab a bomb and jump high. They throw their bomb at one Mario brother, and then dive at the other. The Dark Satellmites and their bombs both miss their target by default, but the Mario brothers can attack the projectile that is thrown in their direction. If that projectile is the Dark Satellmite that was defeated, it will fly back at the Dark Star, dealing some damage to him. Do this twice and the Dark Star becomes vulnerable for a turn. A stronger version of them will later appear in the Gauntlet, under the name Dark Satellmite X.

Stats[]

During the battle with them and the Dark Star in the Airway, Dark Satellmites have 260 hit points, 102 attack power, 82 defense, and 126 speed, and give neither experience nor loot. As Dark Satellmite X's, Dark Satellmites have 416 hit points, 180 attack power, 127 defense, and 176 speed, similarly giving no experience or loot.
