Crunchyroll is a streaming application released on the Wii Shop Channel and the Wii U eShop. The application offers a wide array of anime and Asian dramas for streaming. The service first launched on the Wii U in 2014 with it arriving on the Wii Shop Channel the next year. In mid-2015, the Wii U application no longer required users to be subscribed to use. In early 2019, the Wii version no longer worked. The application launched on the Nintendo Switch in early 2022.

Features[]

The application offers several hundred anime series for viewing. The video player is a typical one for console with the A button to pause/play, b button to return to the show selection screen and the shoulder buttons to fast forward and rewind. Nonsubscribers can use the application but, must watch ads.

Switch version[]

The Switch version has some updated features compared to the original Wii U application. The UI is more modern, and the user can download episodes to play offline if they are subscribed at the higher levels.
