Crateria is the surface area of planet Zebes. It is featured in Super Metroid and Metroid: Zero Mission. The area is very mountainous and rocky, and has numerous caves, and connects to various other areas, including Brinstar, Norfair, Tourian, Maridia, etc. In Zero Mission, Samus can access Chozodia and the Space Pirate Mothership from Crateria.
After Samus defeats Mother Brain and destroys Tourian, Crateria becomes drenched in acid rain, which she is immune to because of the physical adaptations she went through. In Super Metroid, some of the rooms have scalding-hot lava, like the lava found in the lower sections of Norfair where Ridley lurks.
