“If it means the strength must be brought out by the interactions between Pokémon and Trainers, then so be it! If it means you have to use a merciless approach, like Team Plasma's, and force out all of the Pokémon's power, then so be it! And yes, if the entire world is destroyed as a result, then so be it...”
Colress is a Pokémon researcher and the second boss of Team Plasma in Pokémon Black and White 2. He disagrees heavily with the old ways of Team Plasma found in Pokémon Black and White, and he tries to help bring out the true strength of Pokémon. He also appears in several other games.
The player first encounters Colress at the Castelia Sewers. He is once again encountered at Castelia City's Center Plaza, where he asks to inspect the player's Pokémon. Regardless of the player's choice, he will ask them to meet him at Route 4 for a battle. Colress later appears as the final opponent in the Pokémon World Tournament. Later, on Route 22, he gives the player a device to clear out the Crustle blocking the way to Seaside Cave. Colress is battled once more on the Plasma Frigate. After his defeat, he allows the player to access Ghetsis's chamber. After the player enters the Hall of Fame, they can battle Colress again, and gain a Master Ball if they win. Colress can then be battled on the stern of the ship.
Colress does not appear in Pokémon X and Y, but he is mentioned by a Backpacker who tells the player "A few years back, this really strange dude named Colress told me that these big stones emit some kind of special energy."
On Route 8 of Pokémon Sun and Moon, Colress will give the player TM43 (Flame Charge). After becoming champion, Colress will give the player the Genesect Drives. He can also appear in the Battle Tree.
In Episode RR of Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Colress helps the player against Team Rainbow Rocket. He helps warp the bosses back to their own worlds, including Ghetsis, who Colress declares as hating his goals.
