"Charizard Chills" is the 107th episode of Pokémon the Series. It was first broadcast in Japan on July 22, 1999 and in the United States on September 2, 2000. In this episode, Charizard begins to obey Ash Ketchum.
Plot[]
Ash Ketchum, Tracey Sketchit, and Misty are sailing along on Lapras when they almost crash into another Pokémon Trainer wanting to battle Ash. This trainer heard about Ash from the Trovita Island Gym Leader and wants to put his Pokémon up against Ash’s. When the new trainer uses a super-powerful Poliwrath on Charizard, it’s more than anyone expects. After Charizard gets frozen in a battle, Ash tries to defrost him. Charizard, still distrusting of Ash, doesn't want his help, but Ash keeps trying. Charizard finally decides to obey and respect Ash as not only his trainer but also his friend, and the two become closer than ever! Ash is able to give a stunning defeat to the Poliwrath that froze Charizard earlier.

Trivia[]
- Who's That Pokémon?: Poliwrath (Japan), Caterpie (United States)
- Pikachu's Jukebox: Viridian City
- Riding on Lapras replaced Type: Wild as the Japanese ending theme.
- During the second battle, Type: Wild is used as background music.
- This episode was the last of the original series aired in Russia and in ORT. Russia never aired the remaining episodes of Pokémon Adventures in the Orange Islands and the three Johto seasons.
- This was the last second season and Orange Islands arc episode to air in Denmark, Norway, Russia, and Sweden.
- The events of Pokémon the Movie 2000: The Power of One occur after this episode, despite the movie premiering before the episode aired in Japan. This is mainly because Charizard is obeying Ash in the movie.
- Both this episode, in which Charizard starts obeying Ash again, and The Problem with Paras, in which Charizard (as Charmeleon) first started to disobey Ash, were written by Atsuhiro Tomioka.
- The belt that Tad's Poliwrath is wearing greatly resembles to the P1 Grand Prix's belt that Ash's Primeape wears at the end of The Punchy Pokémon. It is very possible that Tad was born, or lives in the city where the P1 Grand Prix takes place, as he mentions it himself.
- Parts of this episode were reanimated and used for flashback material for The Fires of a Red-Hot Reunion!.
- The Japanese title may reference the title of the first episode, Pokémon, I Choose You!.
