Cadence is the main character of the Crypt of the NecroDancer series. She is also notably one of the main characters of Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer feat. The Legend of Zelda, the crossover between Crypt of the NecroDancer and the Zelda series.
Crypt of the NecroDancer
Cadence is the daughter of a famous treasure hunter who went missing one day after searching for a magical golden lute. While trying to find her father, Cadence fell into a massive crypt controlled by a dark magician called the NecroDancer and had her heart separated from her body. She was then forced to traverse the many dungeons of the crypt and slay the NecroDancer's minions while every single of her movements are timed with the beat of her heart.

Cadence is transported to Hyrule by the Triforce to help fight Octavo, a musical wizard who cursed the entire kingdom with the golden lute. She later teams up with Link and Princess Zelda to stop him after finding no other way to go home. It is later revealed that Octavo took over the kingdom in order to find heroes who could stood up to Ganon as he was fated to be defeated by him by a prophecy of the Fate and tried to avoid his own fate. After Octavo is defeated by the heroes, he transport them to a future where Ganon took over the kingdom and has them fight the demon king. After Ganon's defeat, Cadence has no way to return home but Zelda and Link uses the Triforce to wish that she returns home.
