Brace Yourself Games is a Canadian independent developer founded in 2013. They are mainly known as the creators of Crypt of the NecroDancer and as the first indie team to have worked on a full fledged game containing officially licensed Nintendo intellectual properties, namely The Legend of Zelda.

Brace Yourself Games was originally founded in 2013 by Ryan Clark. During the next two years, the team worked on their first game, Crypt of the NecroDancer, which started to release on various platforms as soon as 2015. The game was eventually released on the Nintendo Switch in early 2018.
Eventually, they approached Nintendo to get permission to make a Zelda themed DLC for Crypt of the NecroDancer. This was approved as Nintendo had significant interest in the original Crypt of NecroDancer game. The project quickly evolved in its own game as Nintendo kept pushing to increase the scope of the DLC. The game now named Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer feat. The Legend of Zelda serves as a crossover between Crypt of the NecoDancer and the Zelda series. This game is the first full indie release to officially license and use Nintendo's intellectual property. It was announced in early 2019 and released in June of the same year.
