Blade Strangers is a 2D fighting game by Studio Sanzensen released for the Nintendo Switch. The game is a more simplified fighting with straightforward inputs. The game crosses over various Studio Sanzensen characters with notable indie characters like Shovel Knight and Isaac from The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
Gameplay[]
The main gameplay is a straightforward 2D fighter. The players use simple inputs of the directionals and the face buttons, somewhat similar to the Super Smash Bros. series. The players also have a super meter which can be used to enhance special moves or perform a super. Like other fighting games, the meter is built by dealing or receiving damage. There is also a "Heat Up!" mechanic when the player is low in health. While activated, the player has increased attack speed and preventing the opponent from interrupting the player's attacks.
On top of the multiplayer, there is a story mode, an arcade mode, a survival mode and a challenge mode. The story mode has the player's character go through an interdimensional ladder with some conversation inbetween the characters before facing against the final boss, Lina.
