Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain is an Nintendo Switch game in the Big Brain Academy series. The game has an emphasis on multiplayer modes, both local, and online.

Gameplay[]

This game has you completing multiple mini-games as fast, and as correct as you can. The main thing to keep you coming back to this game is the cosmetics, which you can get from presents. You get presents from coins, and you get coins from playing the game. For the game modes, there are Practice, Super Practice, Ghost Clash, and Test. Practice mode is the mode you use to well... practice. If you get a good enough score, you can get a medal. Gold medals are the hardest to get, and if you get all to gold medals, you unlock Super Practice. Super Practice mode is basically the Practice mode, but harder. Ghost Clash is the multiplayer aspect of the game, if you can even call it that. In Ghost Clash, you battle other peoples ghosts, or npcs. There is no way to battle other people in real time other than party mode, but that's just couch co-op. Test mode is where you show the game your smarts. In Test mode, you complete random minigames, and when you're done, the game will give your brain a grade.

Unlockables[]

The unlockables in this game consist of greetings, clothes, headwear, accessories, and even a new game mode. As for the other stuff, rest ashured, there are a lot of greetings and cosmetics.

Minigames[]

There are five types of minigames in this game. There are identify, memorize, analyze, compute, and visualize. They all have four minigames in them, making the grand total of minigames amount to twenty.

Identify[]

The identify mini-games include Whack Match, Species Spotlight, Frame Filler, and Fast Focus. Whack Match is a minigame where you whack the thing it tells you to whack. Species Spotlight is a minigame where the screen is black you move around a light to see which species there are the most of. Frame Filler is a minigame where you must make the picture full by adding the missing piece of the image. Fast Focus is a minigame where you are shown an image of something which starts out blank, but slowly shows you what it is, and you have to guess what that thing is.

Memorize[]

The memorize mini-games include Flash Memory, Memo-random, Reverse Retention, and Covered Cages. Flash Memory is a minigame where you where the game shows you a number and sometimes a symbol, and you have to remember what that number was and write it. Memo-random is a minigame where the game shows you multiple flashcards, and you have to remember what was on it. Reverse Retention is a minigame where you have to learn a group of things in an order, and repeat that order backwards. Covered Cages is a minigame where you get shown a few birds in cages, they then get covered so you can't see them. The cages switch around, and you have to choose which cages have birds in them.

Analyze[]

The analyze mini-games include CubeGame, Heavyweight, Match Blast, and Speed Sorting. CubeGame is a minigame in which you get shown cubes and then you have to choose how many cubes there are. Heavyweight is a minigame where it weighs different things, and you have to choose which thing weighs the most. Match Blast is a minigame where you get a full thing of blocks and you have to remove blocks to make yours look like the one you're shown. Speed Sorting is a minigame where you are shown a couple things, and you get a couple things, and you have to choose whether or not your group is the same as the other group.

Compute[]

The compute minigames include Add Agency, Mallet Math, Tick-Tock Turn, and Balloon Burst. Add Agency is a minigame where you get shown a couple things, and you have to add two things together to make it equal to the amount of things you are shown. Mallet Math is a minigame where you get shown a number, and you have to break blocks with a number to make the numbers you have equal to the number you are given. Tick-Tock Turn is a minigame where you are given a clock, and you turn the dials according to the task you get. Balloon Burst is a minigame where you are given a couple balloons and they are have numbers on them. You have to pop them from least to greatest.

Visualize[]

The visualize mini-games include Get in Shape, Shadow Shift, Train Turn, and True View. Get in Shape is a minigame where you get the shadow of a thing, and you have to choose what the thing is. Shadow Shift is a minigame where you get multiple shadows of things, they all move around, and you have to choose what those things are. Train Turn is a minigame where you have to choose what train track fits to get the train out. True View is a minigame where you are given an object and an arrow facing a certain way. They want you to choose what the thing looks like from the view of the arrow.

Reception[]

Many reviewers, like Nintendo Life, thought this game was geared for children, but also was difficult enough for them on the higher difficulties. They also liked how giving wrong answers punished the player harshly, so you couldn't just guess and get a good score.

Sales[]

The game reached a total of 1.59 million units sold as of the end of March 2022.
