BS The Legend of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets (JP) is a Nintendo developed Legend of Zelda video game initially broadcast in 1997. The game is a sequel to BS The Legend of Zelda, and was one of the more popular games released on the service. It was released in four segments, or episodes.

Like the game before it, Ancient Stone Tablets does not star Link, but rather the Satellaview's mascots the Hero of Light. Before the game starts, the player can choose if the character is to be male or female, which was only present in this game and the one before it, but not in any other title in the series. The game is generally considered a remake of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on the SNES (Super Famicom in Japan), just as BS Zelda no Densetsu was a remake of the original The Legend of Zelda on the NES (Famicom in Japan). Nevertheless, there were changes, which are listed below.

  • When the player equips the Pegasus Boots, they are now allowed to change direction, making it much easier to control. When the player goes into another room while running, he will not stop automatically stop.
  • Link is no longer in the game, and is instead replaced by the Hero of Light. The Hero of Light can be either male or female, though his or her real name is unknown.
  • The player must collect Ancient Stone Tablets instead of crystals and pendants.
  • It's very hard to tell the difference between a wall that can be destroyed and a wall that can't, while this wasn't the case in the original. There are no visual differences but rather the player will have to hit the wall with his or her sword to see if it can be destroyed.
  • The thieves from A Link to the Past will now sometimes aid the character by upgrading the amount of ammo they can carry, though you are required to pay them.

The game was divided in between four episodes. Each episode contained two dungeons, and each week two more dungeons would be added as the clouds that covered Hyrule would vanish. The episodes include:

  • BS The Legend of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets 1 - March 30, 1997
  • BS The Legend of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets 2 - April 6, 1997
  • BS The Legend of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets 3 - April 13, 1997
  • BS The Legend of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets 4 - April 20, 1997
