Azurda is a small Titan in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna ~ The Golden Country. He used to have a good relationship with Addam Origo during the Aegis War. He is also the Titan Rex lives on at the start of the main game. He is reduced to a younger form after being forced to regenerate his body following grievous wounds he recieved while saving the party at the start of the game. He then follows them around in a larval form and serves as a sort of mentor to Rex.

History

Before the Aegis War

Azurda was, like all Titans, a Blade at some point. His Core Crystal seems to have been birthed from Torna and he eventually returned to Torna's womb to turn into a Titan once his Blade life cycle was complete. He was reborn as a Titan roughly 1300 years before the start of the main game. His ability to speech is incredibly rare amongst Titan and he himself says he can only do it since he is an advanced Titan. Since Blades' goals are to accumulate data by bonding with their Drivers, this quirk most likely come from the data he accumulated during his life as a Blade. According to him it takes roughly 300 years to reach maturity from his larval stage so he most likely spent his first 300 years wandering around in that state. Roughly 80 years before the events of Torna, Azurda was a good friend of Ornelia and Jin and he flew around with them on his back quite a few times. After Ornelia's death, Azurda eventually met a young Addam Origo and grew quite close to the prince. Addam came to call him "Nuncle" during this time. He also had a girlfriend prior to Torna and took a 1 million G loan from the Pyrithium Trade Guild to satisfy her but he refuses to talk about it in much details.

Aegis War

During the early years of the Aegis War, Azurda says that he fought in a battle against some of Malos' Gargoyles in what would become the Kingdom of Tantal. He laters appear to help Lora, Addam, and Hugo Ardanach during Malos' attack on Auresco. He crushes some of the Gargoyles and take the party on his back to chase Malos. Malos manages to escape with the seal, however. Azurda then has a conversation with Jin about his former life as Ornelia's Blade and how he felt about their bond at that time. Jin tells him that he cannot imagine giving up his current life to become a Titan. Azurda replies that he probably tought the same in his former life but that he cannot remember anyways.

After the fall of Torna, Addam goes with Pyra to the Spirit Crucible Elpys in the Leftherian Archipelago to hide the third Aegis sword in the structure. He then gives Azurda the task of watching over the sword until Pyra's true Driver would be revealed. Azurda then meet with Jin some time after he ate Lora and became a Flesh Eater in the aftermath of Amalthus' assault of Spessia. The two meet on a small part of the Tornan Titan still afloat that happens to be where Ornelia's house stood. Jin burns the remains of the house alongside the two photos showing Ornelia's group and the Heros of the Aegis War. Azurda asked Jin to come back, but Jin refused and stated that their paths would not cross.

After the Aegis War

Not much is known about what Azurda did in the 500 years time gap between Torna and the main game. We know that he watched over the Spirit Crucible Elpys like Addam asked him to do. He then befriended Corinne at some point and after Rex lost his parents he grew close to him as well. Rex reffers to Corinne as his aunt and Azurda as his grandfather. Rex eventually became a salvager a few years before the start of the main game and left Fonsett Village in hope of making enough money to support his folks. Azurda went with him.

Main Game

Azurda and Rex are salvaging at the start of the game when they see the death of an unamed large Titan. This is what encourages Rex to ask Azurda about the nature of the Titan's deaths and if the legend of Elysium is true. Azurda says that he has no idea and that the myth of the Titans being from Elysium is impossible to confirm as no Titan from that time period would be alive and that he himself was born in Alrest. Rex then decide to go to the Argentum Tradeguild to sell his finds. There he is contracted by Torna alongside a large number of Leftherian salvagers via Chairman Bana to go on a big job for an enormous amount of money compared to his usual jobs. Rex jump on the occasion and despite Azurda's warnings, he goes on the trip regardless. There they find Pyra's resting place and Rex is killed by Jin for resonating with Pyra by touching her sword. Pyra awakens and revive him with half of her life force and fight against Malos. Nia defects from Torna after having doubts during the mission and they are rescued by Azurda who takes fatal wounds from the canons of Torna's ship.

The party crashes in the Gormott Province. There Azurda is forced to regenerate his body and is returned to his larval stage as a result. When Rex ask him when he is going to go back to normal, Azurda replies with around 300 years. The party has no lost their means of transportations and are forced to find another way to travel Alrest. From that point foreward, Azurda rests within Rex' helmet and gives advices to the party when they run into troubles. Azurda eventually reveals that he was also present and fought in the Aegis War when Mythra is awakened and Malos is revealed to be an Aegis like her. Azurda keeps a passive role until the party reach the Kingdom of Tantal. After Jin defeats them and take Pyra away, Azurda reveals to them the location of the third sword and the role Addam gave to him. He then challenge Rex to triumph over the trials of the Spirit Crucible Elpys. There he serves as their guide and help Rex realize the true nature of the Aegis.

In his next battle with Jin, he awakens Pneuma and defeat him but Malos uses Artifice Ophion to make the party fall to the Land of Morytha. There Azurda is separated from Rex and ends up in a team with Brighid and Poppi. They are amongst the first to regroup with Rex, Mythra and Jin. The party then reach the womb of the rotten Tornan Titan where Amalthus is revealed to be behind most of the chaos that resulted from the aftermath of the Aegis War. They then regroup and start climbing the World Tree after Jin goes back to the rest of Torna. The party eventually confront Amalthus and Jin sacrifice himself to kill the Praetor. Azurda remarks that he tought of him as a splendid soul as he dies.

Azurda and the rest of the party eventually meet Klaus who inform them of the true nature of life and of the world he created. All the party members have remarks to make during Klaus' explanation but Azurda mostly marvel at the complexity of the cycle of life Klaus created. After Malos is defeated for good, Elysium starts to collapse since Klaus' other half was killed by Shulk in another world thus cutting off the power source of the entire facility including the Aegises. Pneuma uses the rest of her power to accelerate Azurda's aging and allow him to grow back to his adult form in a few second if the escape pods she sends the party to fail to work. She then uses Artifice Aion's last embers of power to burn down the debris from Elysium falling upon Alrest. The escape pods are destroyed by some of the debris and Azurda has to turn back to his adult state and rescue the party before the fall to their deaths. It is then revealed that Klaus issued a last command to the remaining large Titans and they have started merging together to form a new landmass. Azurda takes the party there and the game ends soon after.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Azurda serves as the main platform of the stage Cloud Sea of Alrest. The fighters battle on his back as he wanders around the Cloud Sea. Many of the other Titans can be seen in the background. Azurda can move his head around to look at the Titans, which will reduce the size of the stage for a short while. He also comments on what is going on in the fight. The other party members can also appear next to Rex' hut in the background. He also appear in his larval form in the helmet of the Rex Mii costume.
