Azur Lane: Crosswave is an action game for Nintendo Switch, published by Compile Heart originally and by Idea Factory International outside Japan. It is the console adaptation of hit mobile title, Azur Lane. It features a large selection of ships from the game plus a couple based on Idea Factory properties.
Gameplay[]
The game is structured similarly to the mobile title. The main menu opens with the player's chosen ship with options to go to the Story, Extreme Battle, Dock, Shop, Warehouse, Photos, Episodes and a Gallery. When deployed into battle, the player gets a Main Fleet and a Support Fleet. The Main Fleet will be the 3 ships that can be played as with the Support Fleet providing stat boosts and other effects. The ships also need to leveled up to be effective in battle
The player takes direct control of the Ship in slot one with the other Main Fleet ships being AI though control can be swapped at any time. The game is a third person Arcade style shooter with the characters moving across an arena in the ocean. The player has various ammunition and skills which are bound to the shoulder buttons, and two of the face buttons, but each skill has a cooldown before they can be used again. The player has to destroy the enemy ships that will lead to fights with the enemy flagships that have their own support fleet.
Story[]
The story mode is split into chapters for a total of 10 chapters. They consist of events across a simple map. Most of these events are simply talking with other ships about what is happening but, there are Event Battles which are based on the ongoing plot and have rankings based on how the player performed.
