Apricorns

The seven Apricorns.

Apricorns (ぼんぐりのみ, Bonguri Fruit) are recurring items in the Pokémon series, first appearing in the second generation games, Pokémon Gold and Silver. They are softball-sized nuts that grow on trees and can be picked like Berries. In ancient times, prior to the invention of the modern Poké Ball, they were used to capture and tame wild Pokémon.

According to Kurt, a Poké Ball smith who lives in Azalea Town in the Johto region, Apricorn Balls are made by hollowing out the inside of the apricorn and fitting the interior with a "special device" possibly representing older runic or magical inscriptions. Different colors of Apricorn contain properties that attract certain types of Pokémon and make them easier to catch. Kurt can be given an apricorn once a day to craft into different kinds of Poké Ball which are unavailable elsewhere in the Pokémon world.

In Pokémon Sword and Shield's Isle of Armor expansion, apricorns can be found randomly on berry trees and given to the Cram-o-matic to make the corresponding Poke Ball.
