Albatoss is a red albatross enemy appearing in the Mario series. It's make is a pun on its species, but with the removal of the "r" to refer to how it carries things with its talons.

Games[]

Yume Kōjō: Doki Panic/Super Mario Bros. 2[]

Albatross first appears in the Famicom game Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic and the western re-release Super Mario Bros. 2.

In the game, this foe drops a Bob-omb on top of the player as a form of attacking him/her. This bird can be ridden by the player if it goes low enough. This foe, however, cannot be picked up when ridden.

Super Mario Bros. 3 remakes[]

Albatoss makes a cameo appearance in Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, both remakes of the original Super Mario Bros. 3.

The king of the Sky Land makes a cameo as he is seen to have been turned into an Albatoss by Roy Koopa. In the original, he is a typical vulture. He is never seen during normal gameplay.
