Aerobiz (JP) is a business simulation game for Super Nintendo, released in 1992 by Koei. As a CEO of a new airline company, players have to expand and lead the industry against 3 competing airlines. The game received a sequel called Aerobiz Supersonic in August 1994

Gameplay

Aerobiz has two time periods to choose from: between 1963 and 1995 or between 1983 and 2015. On top of choosing the setting, the player must choose which city to base its own base. Each city has advantages and weaknesses.

The player is allowed to do everything in the management of his own financial empire, but some choices in certain historical periods can greatly influence the events in the game. Business is not limited to planes, with the player able to manage hotels and restaurants for their airports

The player has access to these commands in operating their business on their turn

  • Create / Adjust Routes
  • Negotiate for Slots
  • Order/ Sell Planes
  • Budget
  • Advertisements
  • Business Venture
  • Staff Meeting
  • End Turn

The player has access up to 40 different routes across all cities they manage. They can be divided into 4 different kinds of routes; International Routes, Long Distance Routes, Medium Distance Routes and Short Hops. Longer routes earn more money but take longer. International Routes have a special restriction in that they can only have one between two regions.

The player has a limited number of slots for every city and constructing new ones takes time and money. These slots determine the number of flights a player can have come in and leave an airport. Players can only negotiate for new slots in up to 4 cities and these negotiations can take up to 4 quarters.

To expand in more areas of the world, the player can make new Hubs. They act similar to the home base, allowing the player to make new routes assuming they have slots at the city. These are accessed from the Business Venture command

Events

Various events occur during the course of the game. The game will give the players a message like the "Olympics will be held in City" which will result in large boosts in traffic. Alternatively, wars can break out cutting off lines to areas and raising the price of oil. Countries can also offer special proposals that increase the player's favor in that country, reducing time for negotiations.
