Advance Guardian Heroes (JP) is a beat 'em up released for the Game Boy Advance. It is a successor to the Saturn title, Guardian Heroes.

Gameplay[]

The game works similar to other beat 'em up. The player characters can beat enemies with various attacks. The player has the ability to counter and dash and can use their MP to perform magic attacks. There is also a Hyper/Anger mode, which powers up the character for a time. Unlike the predecessor, the player can move freely instead of moving in lanes. Stages have some minor platforming elements now.

If the player is killed, a devil-esque character will appear and offer the player the chance to revive in exchange for their soul. If they accept, the player enters Devil Mode as they are revived. This mode nullifies any damage taken though they can get stunned or thrown around. The player has 6 minutes to finish the stage before the devil will return and kill the player. If the player refuses, they are told that it will be the last chance and they will game over if they refuse again. Regardless of their choice, the player will be returned to the last checkpoint before their original defeat.
