3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is an enhanced 3D port of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Nintendo 3DS by M2. It released digitally in 2015, but was released as a part of the Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives 3: Final Stage compilation of Sega 3D Classics. The game includes enhances not found in the original game.

Like the other games in the Sega 3D Classics series, the game includes stereoscopic 3D, control options, filters and save states. The game includes the option to play the original Japanese release or the international version. The game also includes wireless co-op and VS. play.

The game has a "Ring Keeper" mode which when enabled, allows the player keep 10 rings between each act and only causes the player to lose half their rings when hit. The game also has a "Super Sonic Mode" on completion which when activated, starts every act with 50 rings and 7 Chaos Emeralds which allows Super Sonic to be activated from the start.
