Game Boy Color (GBC) - Konsola powstała w listopadzie 1998. Następca Game Boy Classic. Pierwszy kolorowy wyświetlacz w historii GameBoy'a. Konsola posiada port podczerwieni, co odrzucono w następnych modelach.
Game Boy Color w Polsce[]
W Polsce wydana 7 grudnia 1998 roku wraz z 3 tytułami na start (Tetris DX, Pocket Bomberman, Game and Watch Gallery 2)[1] przez Entertainment Systems Poland a od jesieni 1999, dystrybucja przeszła w ręce Lukas Toys. Jej początkowa cena wynosiła ok. 350 złoty. Masowy wzrost popularności tej konsoli nastąpił pomiędzy 2000 a 2001. Pomimo premiery nowszego Game Boy Advance, konsola utrzymała swoją popularność w latach 2001-2002, dzięki niższej cenie (299 złoty).[2] Istniał dedykowany magazyn o konsoli - GameBoy Magazyn (pierwszy w historii Polski, utworzone wyłącznie o konsolach Nintendo).[3]
W 2001 roku powstał Gameboyzz Orchestra Project (od 2007 roku jako Micro Orchestra), grupa tworząca muzykę elektroniczną na Game Boyu, występująca na międzynarodowych festiwalach[4][5][6].
Niektóre książki oraz opowiadania w języku polskim zostały przeportowane nieoficjalnie na tą konsolę. Jedną z pierwszych był Wiedźmin: Ziarno Prawdy[7].
W grudniu 2025 roku, redakcja PSX Extreme wyda specjalny numer o nazwie Game Boy Extreme, poświęcony konsoli.[8]
